About the ingredients

These Omega oil capsules are a source of Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA), Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), Linoleic Acid (LA), Oleic Acid (OA) and vitamin E.

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart (with a daily intake of 250mg) – click here and here for EFSA scientific opinion.

DHA and EPA contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure (with a daily intake of 3g of EPA and DHA)* – click here and here for EFSA scientific opinions.

DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels (with a daily intake of 2g of DHA and when taken in combination with EPA)* – click here for EFSA scientific opinion.

DHA contributes to maintenance of normal brain function (with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA) – click here and herefor EFSA scientific opinion.

DHA contributes to maintenance of normal vision (with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA) – click here and here for EFSA scientific opinion.

Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants (a daily intake of at least 200mg). Click here for EFSA scientific opinion.

ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels (with a daily intake of 2g) – click here and here for EFSA scientific opinion.

LA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels (with a daily intake of 10g) – click here and here for EFSA scientific opinion.

Replacing saturated fats in the diet with unsaturated fats contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. OA is an unsaturated fat.

Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

*Users should not exceed a supplemental daily intake of 5g of EPA and DHA combined.

What are Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)?

These are a group of unsaturated fatty acids that are essential for growth and body function. EFA activity requires three polyunsaturated fatty acids (linolenic, linoleic and arachidonic). The most essential are linoleic and arachidonic, which are closely involved in metabolism, transport of fats and maintenance of cell membranes. While linolenic and arachidonic acids can be synthesised by the body, linoleic cannot.

There are two types of essential fatty acids – Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 fatty acids. Most people get adequate amounts of Omega 6 fatty acids through their diet, but not enough Omega 3. Over the past 50 years, the consumption of Omega 3 fatty acids has significantly declined in the West.

Essential fatty acids are needed for normal growth and development of children (this beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2 g of ALA and a daily intake of 10g of LA) – click here for EFSA scientific opinion.

Omega 3 oils are generally found in fatty fish, deep green vegetables and some grains and seeds. They contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is metabolised into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the body. DHA is found in high concentration in the grey matter of the brain and the retina of the eye, and is instrumental in the function of brain cell membranes (which are in turn important for the transmission of brain signals).

Unlike Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, Omega 9 fatty acids are not classed as EFAs. This is because they can be manufactured by the human body from unsaturated fat and are therefore not “essential” in the diet. Having said that, vegans, vegetarians, semi-vegetarians and others with restricted diets (for whatever reason) may require greater dietary input.

Please note: even if you elect to pay extra for 1st class post, this does not guarantee that your order will be shipped the same day or the next day. Also see the note below regarding Royal Mail delivery times.

Parcel sizes: most orders will NOT fit through a letter box slot. If you are not in to receive your order, please leave a note on your door for the postman to leave it with a neighbour or look for the Royal Mail “Not able to deliver” note and contact them ASAP for re-delivery, or the parcel will be sent back to us after 5 business days.

Delivery times

Royal Mail
For UK orders, Royal Mail states that 1st class Mail is delivered between 1 and 2 business days and 2nd class Mail (including 2nd class Recorded Delivery) is delivered within 5 – 10 business days (see the Royal Mail website for full details).
Delivery to destinations outside the UK vary from 10 to 19 business days. Please see the Royal Mail website for details. Parcels may also be held up by customs.

Courier
If we decide to ship your UK order by courier (Interlink) because of its weight or value, you will receive a notification email and then a text message approximately 1 hour prior to delivery (if you provided the correct email address and mobile phone number). Delivery by courier normally takes place the next day.

Please note: We post orders as quickly as possible. However, the delivery times mentioned above are NOT guaranteed – they are just approximate times provided by the mail carriers. Once we pass an item to a mail delivery service company, we cannot control delays and delivery times. Whilst we are sorry for any inconvenience caused by delivery delays, we cannot take any responsibility for them – though we will, of course, do everything we can to help you get your order in the quickest possible time.

Order status

You will receive two emails after you have placed your order and provided us with a valid email address:

  1. The first confirms that your order has been received and will contain your receipt; this email should arrive within approximately 24 hours.
  2. The second confirms that your order has been posted; this email should arrive within approximately 1 business day following authorisation of your credit card and verification of your information.
  3. If you do not receive our emails, please look in your spam or junk folders. If they are not found in there, you will have typed in an incorrect email address when completing the order form email address field.

Late packages

If your order appears to be late, please remember:

  • courier deliveries (which will be through Interlink) only take place on business days (i.e. Monday – Friday, excluding holidays).
  • delays to deliveries by Royal Mail do occur and these are beyond our control. Please be patient, as usually your item will arrive within a few days of dispatch. Always check your post box for an “unable to deliver” note, as most packages will be unable to fit in a standard post box and if a signature is required, they will not leave the item.

Please note: In some cases, Royal Mail do not leave an “unable to deliver” note. If your delivery has not arrived after 10 working days and you have not had an “unable to deliver” note left in your letter box, contact your local post office or Royal Mail collection depot immediately, as it will usually be awaiting collection there. If parcels are not collected within 7 working days, they are usually posted back to us. However, it takes around 30 days for us to receive returned parcels. In these circumstances, a delivery charge of €4.99 will apply to any orders that are required to be re-shipped to you.

Delayed, lost or confiscated mail

Please refer to our Terms & Conditions.

The time period before Royal Mail will accept that an item has been lost is 19 business days from the delivery due date for UK mail, and approximately 29 days for mail posted to anywhere outside the UK.

When placing an order with us, please take care to provide your full and correct address. In the event of lost mail due to incorrect address details being provided, we will not be able to refund your shipping costs (if applicable). You will also be required to pay for a share of the re-stocking fee, which will be 25% of the amount you paid for the item(s) in your order.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are allowed to import any supplement you wish to purchase from the UK into your own country. If Customs officials in your country return your order to us, either because you did not have permission to import such supplements, or because such supplements are banned in your country, we will refund your order less the shipping costs incurred by us. Please check with your country’s Customs officials to make sure that you are permitted to import any supplement before purchasing.

Important notice: Customs, in rare instances, may confiscate shipments containing locally prohibited products from entering into their respective countries. In the unlikely event that your shipment is confiscated, we accept no financial responsibility, and therefore will not offer any refunds for your order.
